Schools and nurseries still without heating. Faced with a strike by agents of the city’s building management service, the town hall of Lyon was “forced to act”. She decided to requisition the strikers so that “the heating is restored as quickly as possible”.

A new meeting was held this Tuesday at the Town Hall. “The City of Lyon reminded the agents of the meaning of their public service mission with the population, and in particular the most vulnerable. They have also been asked to show responsibility when the temperatures recorded are particularly low in certain classes and early childhood sections,” she said. “Temperatures dropped to 10°C in some classes,” observed the SNUDI-FO union on Tuesday. But the agents refused, preferring to continue their movement in order to obtain an increase of 200 euros.

End of inadmissibility

“This mission (to put the heating back on) should have been carried out several days ago, even though the agents were on duty”, further indicates the City of Lyon. For its part, the CGT responds that the strike notice had been filed on October 18 and that the opening of the heating, initially scheduled for November 1, had been postponed to 7, given the mild temperatures.

“We fully understand that people are outraged, but the mayor had three weeks to be able to negotiate. The agents thought that this time would make it possible to reach a compromise, ”underlines Frédérique Michaud, CGT representative of the staff of the city of Lyon to AFP. Except that the town hall does not intend to accede to the demands, or even negotiate. “An envelope of 6.4 million euros was released last year to increase the salaries of agents”, she answers to 20 minutes, considering that “few communities have devoted such sums. »
