In interview with the GuardianMr. Khan explained that these combined events had a cumulative effect on his mental healthwhile specifying that he was not comparing his situation to that of refugees or people facing similar situations, who are experiencing extreme levels of post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD).

He added: “Besides, even if that means I’m considered fragile, either. Mental Health is fragile if it is not taken into account. And I shouldn’t be afraid to talk about it.” Mr Khan mentioned the interactions he had on Twitter with former US President Donald Trump, which led to a significant increase in threats against him on the social networks. Referring to the Finsbury Park mosque attack in 2017, Mr Khan said: “The terrorist was looking for me. Not finding me he decided to go after Jeremy Corbyn and the Muslims. Every time Trump says something terrible about me, the hatred against me on social networks is increasing considerably. There are also individuals who support Daesh (Islamic State) and Al-Qaeda and who believe that one cannot be a Muslim and a Westerner at the same time. I get death threats from both sides.”

Mr Khan also admitted having lost morale during the pandemic and have to trouble thinking clearly and motivating your team. Candidate for a third term as Mayor of London, he expressed in the interview with the Guardian his hope of eventually serving six terms.
