“Re malaria”: Yannick Noah indicates that he is the victim of yet another relapse

Definitely, the former tennis champion is unlucky in terms of health. On Instagram, Yannick Noah informed his subscribers on May 12 that he contracted malaria again after returning from a trip to Tahiti.

It is this same parasitic disease which had already led the singer to rest, and even to be hospitalized in emergency last March. Here, in a new story, it simply states “re malaria”, in the caption of a photo where we see him lying in a bed and visibly in bad shape. The singer had however announced to be much better on March 22.

If the symptoms of malaria consist of high fever, chills, muscle pain, the singer did not say more about his state of health.

A disease transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito, malaria is caused by several species of parasites belonging to the genus Plasmodium. Several of them can cause relapses, sometimes years after the primary infection.

Furthermore, a person living in an endemic area, which is the case for Yannick Noah, who became village chief of Etoudi in Cameroon, can be affected several times by the disease, due to successive infections. Because natural immunity is unfortunately not very effective against malaria, because there are several species of parasites, but also because they manage to escape the immune response by different means.

As indicated by Inserm, the best means of control remain environmental prevention (mosquito control, physical or chemical protection, etc.) and drug prophylaxiswhich is based on the prescription of antimalarials before a stay in an endemic area.

However, malaria remains partially immunizing, since the symptoms are theoretically less and less severe over time.
