“My hairdresser is committed” label, when salons get involved in sustainable development

Why did you create an Ecolabel for hairdressing salons?

Hairdressing institutions (members of the AG2R LA MONDIALE group) highlight theecological and economic impact of hairdressing salons. With more than 60,000 salons in France, the energy consumed by this activity alone would be 600,000 MWh per year, or the energy consumption of 18,000 inhabitants! Not to mention the 8 million m3 of water used each year, the equivalent of 6,500 municipal swimming pools, and the 75,000 tonnes of waste (packaging, coloring tubes, etc.). These few figures make us jump and quickly make us understand the interest of this eco-label aimed at reducing the ecological impact of this profession, the 2nd craft branch in France after the building sector.

Regardless of the field, we consumers are more and more careful and demanding on the origin of the products and their impact on the environment. By identifying hairdressing salons that are committed to sustainable development, the label “My hairdresser is committed” meets our needs. Professionals who are committed to the health of everyone (customers and employees) and nature on a daily basis deserve to be recognized and acclaimed.

The label is awarded to salons which focus their efforts on: energy savings, the quality of the products used, the quality of the air, the management of waste, the layout of the workspace (ergonomic chair, quality products… to improve the quality of life at work and fight against musculoskeletal disorders or allergies), the well-being of customers, etc…
