She might never have been there. Agathe Cauet, Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, dreams of wearing the crown of Miss France on December 17. “I’m shocked, I don’t have the words and I’m so grateful for all of this,” she assured the microphone of France 3 Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

The young woman went through a painful ordeal as a teenager. At the age of 17, she suffered from a borderline tumor of the ovary who grew to weigh 9 kilos. At the time of diagnosis, she was terminal. “I was hospitalized at Oscar-Lambret. The doctors had prepared me for the worst with, in particular, possible chemotherapy”.

“It was a somewhat complicated stage in my life, but I came out of it bigger, stronger and that’s why I want to be a spokesperson for this cause. I haven’t had chemo, I was lucky. Just surgery. It was enough to heal me. The story ends well”, says Agathe Cauet. Today, she keeps track of this ordeal, a scar on her stomach: “It’s my biggest complex, doing the misses helped me gain confidence in me”. On the right groin, she has a tattoo that depicts an arch of flowers.

After this stay in the hospital, the young woman wanted to “help in turn”. She trained to become a nurse and started in the Saint-Philibert intensive care unit in 2020 during the Covid-19 epidemic: “It was complicated, I was 21. There were a lot of deaths The Saint-Philibert intensive care unit was saturated, but I was fully into it. I told myself that they needed me. I got involved, like all caregivers”.

If she is elected Miss France, she has obviously found the cause she wants to put in the spotlight: “The values ​​of the woman of 2023. Let’s stop the prejudices about the misses and defend above all the cause the fight against cancer“.
