Ingredients :
- 2 chicken breasts, cut into 1-2 inch bite-size pieces
- 1/4 cup (65 ml) self-rising flour
- 1/4 cup (65 ml) cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of sugar
- 1/2 cup (125ml) water
Sweet and sour sauce :
- 1 cup (250ml) sugar
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) rice vinegar
- 1/2 cup (125ml) water
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Preparation :
- Preheat your deep fryer or a pot filled with oil to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, sugar and water.
- Dip each piece of chicken into the mixture, then place in the fryer.
- Brown for 7 to 8 minutes.
- Drain with a paper towel.
Sweet and sour sauce :
- In a pot, combine sugar, vinegar and water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved.
- In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch with the ketchup.
- Add the ketchup+starch mixture to the cauldron when the sugar in it is dissolved.
