Blood group A- (A negative): a rather rare group

Spread the love

Negative rh is very little present in each blood group of the world population as in France. In both cases, the A- blood group represents only 6% of the population (against 36% for the A+).

Negative rh is very little present in each blood group of the world population as in France. In both cases, the A- blood group represents only 6% of the population (against 36% for the A+). The characteristics of blood group A- are:

► Antigens: the surface of blood group A red blood cells is concentrated in type A antigens. Therefore, this blood group or more precisely its red blood cells can only be transmitted to groups AB and A.

► Rhesus: negative. A- people can therefore give both rhesus groups A and AB.

► Antibodies: Type A blood serum or plasma contains anti-B antibodies. So as for the A+, they can receive type A and O red blood cells with the difference that they must be rhesus negative.
