The news is encouraging. Due to a recurrence of right knee cancer, sports commentator Matthieu Lartot had his leg amputated in mid-June. A few weeks later, he is already walking again. “We thought that I could not walk at that time, but my perimeter is increasing day by day”, confides the journalist to Parisian. On Instagram, he posted a story of himself walking on crutches only “one month and six days after the amputation”.
“When I woke up, I had no apprehension looking under the sheet. […] I wasn’t stunned, stunned or psychologically sunk, and that’s important, because the mind plays a lot. […] Three hours after the operation, I was up and walking on crutches. They removed the wires from me after sixteen days, I healed very quickly, ”says Matthieu Lartot in the columns of the daily newspaper.
If he remains positive, he knows that nothing is ever definitively won against cancer: “We cannot be definitive on this subject, because we know very well that recurrences exist, but we have given ourselves the maximum of chances. We put the package on chemotherapy, we reached the threshold of products, quite aggressive, that I was able to receive ”. Today, he keeps one goal in mind; that of being present at the opening match of the Rugby World Cup. : “I will go to the stadium walking or with crutches, or in a wheelchair. » After his amputation, he wants to make accessibility his new fight. “It will be my battle: to convince club presidents of the work to be done in welcoming the disabled. »
